General Airport Information
The largest and possibly most important airport in Canada, Toronto Pearson Airport, is located in Mississauga, approximately 17 miles (28 km) from downtown Toronto. It is a modern, high-tech aviation hub, offering passengers a wide range of services and amenities and operating across two terminal buildings. Serving more than 155 destinations worldwide, Toronto International Airport hosts numerous airlines, from full-service carriers to low-cost providers, and welcomes millions of travelers every year.
With an extensive selection of shops, restaurants, bars, and parking options, along with additional facilities such as chapels, children’s playgrounds, lounges, and more, YYZ Airport is undoubtedly Canada’s leading airport and one of the busiest aviation hubs in the world.
Terminals
Toronto International Airport has two terminal buildings. The two Toronto airport terminals are connected via the free, automated people mover known as the Terminal Link Train. Terminal 1 is one of the largest terminal buildings in the world (having expanded over the former Terminal 2) and primarily serves Air Canada and other Star Alliance airlines. Terminal 3, on the other hand, handles many unaffiliated airlines as well as members of the Oneworld and SkyTeam alliances.
Hotels
Toronto Pearson Airport does not have an on-site hotel located directly inside its terminal buildings. However, the Sheraton Gateway Hotel is connected to Terminal 3, while the Alt Hotel can be reached quickly and easily via the Terminal Link Train. In addition, there are numerous hotels located near Toronto Airport, and for travelers seeking accommodation in downtown Toronto, the available options are virtually endless.
Parking
Parking at Toronto Airport is straightforward and convenient. YYZ passengers and visitors can take advantage of a wide range of parking options at Pearson Airport, including short-term parking, long-stay facilities, valet services, and designated pick-up and drop-off areas. Visitors can also pre-book a preferred parking spot or choose the Park & Ride the UP option, which combines parking with transit to downtown Toronto via the UP Express Train for a single fare.
Layover at the Airport
Although layovers are often considered an unavoidable inconvenience during air travel, a layover at Toronto Pearson Airport can turn into a pleasant experience. Travelers can explore the many things to do during a short stopover at YYZ, while those with more time can leave the airport and discover the vibrant city of Toronto, the capital of Ontario.
