The Toronto Airport Train
The UP Express is the fast and effective train line linking Toronto Pearson Airport to the city of Toronto. It is by far the best value-for-money option and one of the most preferred modes of transit from the airport. The train is fully accessible and offers free Wi-Fi, charging points, live flight updates, folding tables, and spacious baggage racks. Overall, the UP Express air-rail line is considered a speedy, reliable, and convenient part of Pearson Airport’s ground transportation network.
The Schedule and Route of the UP Express Train
The airport train departs from the UP Express Station and heads directly toward downtown Toronto. The route connects Toronto Airport with:
- Weston Station – connection to GO Transit Kitchener Line (11 minutes)
- Bloor Station – connection to GO Transit Kitchener Line and Subway Line 2 (Bloor–Danforth) (17 minutes)
- Union Station – Toronto’s main rail hub, with VIA Rail and Subway Line 1 (Yonge–University) connections (25 minutes)
The UP Express operates every 15 minutes. Trains run:
- Weekdays: from 05:27 am to 11:27 pm
- Weekends & public holidays: from 06:27 am to 11:27 pm
Where is the Train Station at Toronto Pearson Airport?
Although Toronto Pearson Airport has two terminal buildings, only Terminal 1 houses the airport train station. The UP Express Station is located inside Terminal 1, right next to the Terminal Link Station.
Terminal Link is the free, automated airport train connecting:
- Terminal 1
- Terminal 3
- Viscount Station
If you arrive at Terminal 1, simply follow the signs reading “Train to City.” If you land at Terminal 3, take the Terminal Link Train to Terminal 1. The Terminal Link operates 24/7.
Toronto Airport Train Ticket Fares and Prices
Toronto airport train fares are distance-based and vary depending on your destination. Both one-way and round-trip tickets are available.
- Union Station: 12.35 CAD / 9 USD / 8.40€ (round trip: 24.70 CAD)
- Weston Station: 5.30 CAD / 3.90 USD / 3.70€
- Bloor Station: 5.65 CAD / 4.12 USD / 3.90€
Tickets can be purchased:
- Online or via the UP Express app
- From automatic ticket machines at the UP Express Station
- From the UP Express Customer Service Counter in the International Arrivals area of Terminal 1
Please note that the customer service counter accepts card payments only, while automatic machines accept both cash and cards.
PRESTO Cards and Contactless Payments
Passengers can also use a rechargeable PRESTO Card, priced at 6 CAD / 4.37 USD / 4.10€. PRESTO Cards provide lower fares and are valid on TTC and GO Transit services as well.
- Union Station: 9.25 CAD / 6.70 USD / 6.30€
- Weston Station: 4.71 CAD / 3.40 USD / 3.20€
- Bloor Station: 5.02 CAD / 3.70 USD / 3.47€
PRESTO Cards must be tapped when entering the UP Express Station and again when exiting at your destination.
Contactless payments are also supported. You can pay using a contactless bank card, mobile phone, or smartwatch by tapping at PRESTO payment devices.
Useful Tips
- PRESTO Cards are not personal and can be shared, but not simultaneously
- Children aged 0–12 travel free on the UP Express
- Families (2 adults with up to 3 children under 19) can use the “Park & Ride the UP” option: park at the airport for up to 24 hours and travel downtown for a total of 35 CAD (25.50 USD / 24€)
